Latest Incident News: Members from Texas use the HazMat Smart-Strip to quickly identify mislabeled drums at a school this past week. The contents were identified as Hydrofluoric Acid. This is the second incident this week the strip was used successfully.
Other Incident News: Miami Dade HazMat uses HazMat Smart-Strip to classify product at Port of Miami on Thursday night at an actual response. Team members were faced with a leaking container and the product was identified to be Dithiophosphate and reacted positive on the corrosive / sulfide squares on the strip.

The HazMat Smart-Strip: Changes colors when exposed to nerve agents, cyanide and other chemicals may protect family members, police officers, firefighters and others.
The baseball
card-sized Smart Strip can detect chlorine, pH, fluoride, nerve agents,
oxidizers, arsenic, sulfides and cyanide in liquid or aerosol form at
minute levels.
A change in color in any of the eight categories alerts users to get
additional gear, decontaminate or evacuate.
The HazMat Smart Strip requires little training and attaches with either a
peel-and-stick adhesive strip or a clip like those used for identification
badges. Once the protective film is peeled off, the cards are operational
for 12 hours, or until they are exposed to one of the eight substances.
