GeneTree's DNA 1st Cousin Analysis can be done for Legal or for Personal purposes. It is designed to measure the probabilities that the 2 alleged 1st cousins submitting specimens for testing are cousins. At GeneTree we pride ourselves on our efforts to providing an affordable, easy-to-understand service that is combined with reasonable turnaround.
Samples are collected from two alleged first cousins at home. The samples are generally obtained using a cheek swab. However, DNA can also be extracted from hair, tissue, or fluids with cells in them, e.g. blood for additional fee using GeneTree DNA Special Specimen Collection kit. After you collect the sample, send the test kit to our facilities. The results from the 1st Cousin DNA Analysis are guaranteed to indicate either >80% (inclusive) or <20% (exclusive) probability of the relationship.
The following related DNA tests are available to better handle your situation if necessary:
1.) GeneTree DNA 1st Cousins (Additional) enables you to test additional alleged 1st cousins
2.) GeneTree DNA 1st Cousins (Legal Collection) enables you to request the GeneTree customer service department to schedule the location and time to collect specimen samples for each person being tested for legal
purposes
3.) GeneTree DNA 1st Cousins (Legal Notarized) enables you to request GeneTree to notarize the lab results for legal
purposes
4.) GeneTree DNA Special Specimen Collection Kit enables
you to perform a GeneTree DNA test using other types of biological specimens.
5.) GeneTree DNA Biological Stain Analysis enables you
to characterize a stain for blood, semen, saliva, etc.
