The GeneTree DNA Single Grandparentage Analysis Test determines the relationship between one grandchild and one alleged grandparent.
Samples are obtained from the grandchild and from the alleged grandparent. Most often, you can collect DNA samples at home by rubbing a swab (provided in the test kit) on the inside of your cheek. However, DNA can also be extracted from hair, tissue, or fluids with cells in them, e.g. blood for additional fee using GeneTree DNA Special Specimen Collection kit. After you collect the sample, send the test kit to our facilities. The results will be available to you within 7-10 business days. The private test is generally not admissible in courts of law. For the most accurate results in a Grandparentage Analysis it is best to include both the grandparents and the child. If both alleged grandparents are included the results are guaranteed to indicate either >99% (inclusion) or 0% (exclusion) probability of Grand-parentage relationship. If only one grandparent is included the conclusive range for results will indicate either >90% or <15% probabilities.
