EPA warns that indoor air is typically much more of a threat than outdoor air. Allergen Alert measures for eight levels of perennial indoor allergens: dust mites, cockroaches, dogs, cats, alternaria mold, aspergillus fumigatus mold, penicillium mold, and cladosporium mold. Allergens are actually proteins and enzymes from living biological organisms that trigger allergic responses in humans. Any airborne particulates especially allergens are bad for any living organisms. Different rooms in a home can have different allergen profiles so each room should be analyzed separately. Typically your bedroom and your main living area should be analyzed separately for the average person spends 22 hours indoors and 8 hours sleeping. Allergen Alert contains dust collector traps that are inserted between vacuum hose and attachment to collect large and small particulates from surfaces in a room that collect dust. The dust collector trap is then mailed back to our Allergy & Immunology lab. The lab will separate large particulates from very small airborne particulates since only very small airborne particulates are analyzed for level of allergens. Test analysis containing allergen levels will be mailed back to you 2-3 weeks after the dust collector traps are received by the lab.
Competitive Advantage:
Allergen Alert is the only test to employ polyclonal antibody allergen
testing. Competitive products employ monoclonal antibody allergen testing.
In layman's terms, polyclonal testing means numerous kinds of each of the 8
most common indoor allergens tested. Monoclonal testing means only one kind
of a single allergen is actually tested.
Who should be tested:
Expectant mothers
Parents with small children
New home owners
Safety managers that suspect a workplace to have excessive airborne
particulates and/or allergens
