Mood Swings Guide

 Don't just test. Test Smart™

Stay in touch with your feelings.

Did you know that one of the reasons for an unexplained mood change could be an out-of-range blood glucose level? When you (or the people around you) sense a change in the way you are feeling or acting, it may be due to high or low blood sugar levels. Test when you're under stress, to catch high spikes. Remember, stress can make it extra hard to stay in range.

Remember, try to stay between 80 mg/dL and 140 mg/dL or what your healthcare professional recommends to keep your mood even.

OneTouch® changes everything.

If there's nothing causing you to feel confused, jumpy, or shaky, your blood sugar level may be out of range.  It may also be why you can't concentrate or why you feel so tired.  Either way, testing can tell you if a snack will put you back in range, and in a better mood.

TEST SMART™ TIPS

  • If your energy level isn't all it should be, test, record your results, and talk to your healthcare professional.

  • Ask your friends and family to tell you when they notice changes in your mood.

Rosaline slept through the alarm and was confused when her husband tried to wake her.  He suggested that she test her blood sugar. In the bathroom, she did test and got a low result. She had breakfast and felt better right away. She went to work ready to tackle her day.

Harry was still packing when the moving van arrived.  And he was flying to Denver later that afternoon for an important meeting at the new office.  He started to panic and get stressed. He tested and found his blood sugar was high.  He remembered his doctor had told him that stress can increase blood sugar levels. He made sure his snack was low in carbohydrates, took some deep breaths, and started packing again when he was more relaxed. He made a mental note to test when stressed and whenever he felt his mood changing.
