An aid in Prostate Cancer detection utilizing the proven Hybritech Tandem(R), technology
BIOSAFE PSA4 provides PSA screening information in one convenient economical package.
Early detection is the most important advantage a patient can have against prostate cancer. PSA testing can help physicians detect prostate cancer in its earliest, most treatable stage.
BIOSAFE PSA4, using dried blood spot technology, provides doctors and their patients a new level of convenience and cost effectiveness to ensure men receive this important advantage.
Convenient
A BIOSAFE PSA4 blood collection kit is provided to
the patient. The patient uses a lancet to obtain three
drops of fingertip blood, applies the blood to the
collection card and mails the collection card to
BIOSAFE Laboratories in the mailer provided.
Accurate
The blood sample is analyzed using the Hybritech Tandem PSA assay, recognized as
the leader in accurate PSA testing.
Cost effective
Self-collection of a blood sample eliminates the need for a professional blood
draw. An office visit is then scheduled as a follow-up to testing.
Efficient
Results are returned to patients and/or their health care professional on a
timely basis. The entire process requires minimal administrative cost and
provides critical information for quality patient care and wellness testing.
Patients Surveys
indicate:
Greater than 98% preferred the BIOSAFE PSA4 dried blood spot (dbs) system over a
venous blood draw.
Greater than 99% said they would use BIOSAFE PSA4 again.
100% of the men found the directions clear and easy to follow and were confident
that they completed the blood collection successfully.
Tandem PSA Serum vs.
Tandem PSA/BlOSAFE DBS
Clinical studies
to determine correlation between Tandem PSA serum values and Tandem PSA/BlOSAFE
DBS values were performed on 139 men with varying PSA levels. The two assays
measure PSA equivalently as demonstrated by the high degree of correlation.
Tandem PSA Clinical Trial Results Summary
(Number of Subjects Tested= 6,374) All patients with a PSA >4.0 and/or a positive DRE were biopsied. The % positive biopsies by PSA value and DRE result appears in column one. Those patients with positive biopsies were staged and the percent of organ confined cancers and advanced cancers by PSA value and DRE result appear in columns two and three.
