Product Summary

What is The Integrated E-Z Split Key Cup™ with the Adulteration Test Strip?

The Integrated E-Z Split Key Cup™ with the Adulteration Test Strip is an all-inclusive drug test cup that conveniently combines a drug screen and adulteration strip into an easy one step test. Its progressive design eliminates any contact with urine, automatically splits the specimen for sample confirmation and provides an easy to read adulteration strip with an accurate and user friendly color chart.

What is Adulteration? Adulteration is the tampering of specimen with the intention of altering the test results. Users of illicit drugs have attempted to defeat drug tests by adding adulterants to the sample after collection as a way to invalidate the testing procedures. Adding household chemicals such as detergents, bleach and soaps or diluting samples by drinking large quantities of liquid are some of the creative ploys that abusers use to mask positive samples. One of the best ways to test for adulteration is to look for certain characteristics such as pH, oxidization, specific gravity, color and temperature. The Integrated E-Z Split Key Cup™ with the Adulteration Test Strip is your solution. Why? Because it detects multiple drugs and adulterants with just one sample!

Adulterants can be classified into two categories

1. Household substances/chemicals.
    Below are a few examples.

• Bleach
    • Liquid drain cleaner
    • Ammonia
    • Vinegar

2. Commercial substances.

Market Overview

Adulteration testing is becoming more of an issue. Determining whether the donor has tampered with his or her urine has become a growing concern. Substance abuse creates enormous costs for businesses. Workplace alcohol, tobacco and other drug-related problems cost U.S. companies more than $102 billion each year in lost productivity, accidents, employee turnover, increased health care costs, absenteeism and workers’ compensation claims1. While drug testing is an integral step to help lower these costs, it is also important to secure measures for abusers trying to defeat a positive finding. There are numerous websites selling additives to mask a drug user’s urine sample, but they can be thwarted with the use of adulteration tests. Adulteration tests provide an effective and low cost means to help determine if samples have been tampered with.

Adulteration Strips

The test strips aid in the detection of urine adulteration for drugs of abuse test screens. The test is based on the chemical reaction to the reagents on the pads with components in the urine sample effecting color changes. Results are obtained by comparing the color on each of the test pads with a corresponding color chart.

pH: Tests for the presence of acidic or alkaline adulterants in urine. Normal pH will range from 4.0 to 9.0 and have an orange color. Colors outside the normal range will vary from pink (low pH) to dark brown (high pH).

Oxidants: Tests for presence of oxidizing reagents. A blue or green color indicates the presence of oxidants (such as bleach and Hydrogen Peroxide) in urine. Normal urine contains no oxidants.

Specific gravity: Tests for sample dilution. Green to dark yellow indicates normal range. Blue and bright yellow indicate abnormal ranges. Normal ranges are between 1.003 and 1.030.
